Quantity Surveying Services / Estimating & Tendering

We offer a competitive Quantity Surveying service to the Client who may be considering one of the following:

  • Build a new house
  • Extend their existing property
  • Carry out a refurbishment on their dwelling

The Client may choose some or all of the services which are outlined below depending on their particular requirements.

. Cost Plan

We produce a detailed cost plan from Architect’s drawings and the Client’s requirements so as to provide an accurate budget. Such a cost plan produced by a Chartered Quantity Surveyor will also be beneficial if you are
applying for a bank loan to finance your project.

. Value Engineering

Value engineering is used to solve problems, identify and eliminate unwanted cost, while improvingfunction and quality. The aim is to increase the value of products and satisfy the products performance requirements at the lowest possible cost. In consideration this involves considering the availability of materials, construction methods, transportation issues, site limitations or restrictions, planning and organization, costs, profits and so on. Benefits that can be delivered include a reduction in life cycle costs, improvement in quality, reduction of environmental impacts and so on. Value Engineering should start at project inception where the benefits can be greatest, however the contractor may also have a significant contribution to make as long as the changes required to the contract do not affect the timescales, completion dates or incur additional costs that outweigh the savings on offer.

. Pricing Document

We produce a pricing document which will be used by all tendering Contractors so as to ensure that quotations are on a like-for-like basis, with no omissions by the Contractor. We will also provide a report on all tenders received and advise which tender represents the best value for money.

. Contracts

We can advise on a suitable contract to be used and draft any necessary amendments to ensure the Client is protected from unnecessary contractual risks.

. Cost Control

Once the project commences we can monitor ongoing constructions costs, agree interim payments with the Contractor and value any instructed variations. As part of that service we would also negotiate a final account on the Client’s behalf with the Contractor.
